Pope Plans to Fix the World

The pope has stepped into the push for global sustainability —the world-wide effort to "save the planet" from the destructive efforts of its human inhabitants. Blaming wasteful consumerism and selfish profiteering, he declares that the world is in a mess and he knows how to fix it.

His recent 44,000-word encyclical on the environment pushes the plan for a happy world where everyone loves everyone and mother earth. No one is allowed to have too much so that everyone can have enough. His underlying assumption is that there will be some kind of global authority with the power to enforce harmony and peace, and see that all injustice and intolerance is eliminated.

Investors Fleeing To Cash

Investors around the globe are trying to decide if the selloff in China’s stock market reflects a severe downturn in the Chinese economy, the world’s second largest, with possibly dire consequences for the U.S. stock market and the U.S. economy.

The week began Monday with a 1,000 point drop in the Dow followed by a recovery Wednesday and Thursday, when the index registered the largest two-day point gain ever.

China Is Dumping US Treasuries

China has likely sold somewhere on the order of $100 billion in US Treasurys in the past two weeks alone in open FX ops to steady the yuan. Put simply, as part of China's devaluation and subsequent attempts to contain said devaluation, China has been purging an epic amount of Treasurys.

But even as the cat was out of the bag for Zero Hedge readers and even as, to mix colorful escape metaphors, the genie has been out of the bottle since mid-August for China which, thanks to a steadfast refusal to just float the yuan and be done with it, will have to continue selling USTs by the hundreds of billions, the world at large was slow to wake up to what China’s FX interventions actually implied until Wednesday when two things happened: i) Bloomberg, citing fixed income desks in New York, noted "substantial selling pressure" in long-term USTs emanating from somebody in the "Far East", and ii) Bill Gross asked, in a tweet, if China was selling Treasurys.

North Korea posed for all out war with South Korea

North Korea says it’s ready for an “all-out war” against South Korea as a 5:30 p.m. (0830 GMT) Saturday deadline approached set by Pyongyang for Seoul to dismantle loudspeakers broadcasting anti-North Korean propaganda along their border.

The warning by North Korea’s Foreign Ministry came after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday declared his front-line troops in a “quasi-state of war” and ordered them to prepare for battle. South Korea on Thursday fired dozens of artillery rounds across the border, saying North Korea had fired first to back up a threat to attack the loudspeakers.

In a statement carried by North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency, the Foreign Ministry says North Korean soldiers and people are “poised not to just counter-act or make any retaliation but not to rule out an all-out war to protect the social system, their own choice, at the risk of their lives.”

Brace for possible early September market crash

Across the vast expanse of the internet, everyone from professional economists to armchair theorists are sounding the alarm that next month may hold some ugly surprises for the global economy.

Despite exorbitant executive salaries, record earnings on Wall Street and a surging dollar, an increasing number of forecasters are warning the feel-good data is severely skewered - a bit like a new coat of paint that used-car dealerships use to conceal the fact that a car's engine is shot. Indeed, many experts are giving the rickety US-made jalopy just months before the big collapse begins.

Gerald Celente, the founder of Trends Research, who predicted the “panic of 2008,” says the economic earthquake will send reverberations around the world. “You’re going to see a global stock market crash,” Celente told King World News. “There’s going to be panic on the streets from Wall Street to Shanghai, to the UK down to Brazil.” “You’re going to see one market after another begin to collapse.” Doug Casey, a successful investor and the head of Casey Research, saw little to be upbeat about in the current economic climate.

"With these stupid governments printing trillions and trillions of new currency units," Casey, describing the US Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing program, told Reason magazine in a recent interview, “it's building up to a catastrophe of historic proportions."

Tennessee Court reverse decision for "mother" and "father"

The Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts reversed a controversial decision to replace the terms "mother" and "father" with "parent 1" and "parent 2."

"After receiving feedback regarding a recent change made to the permanent parenting plan form, the AOC has reviewed the procedures and determined that, before making any changes to the form, the AOC should consult with the Domestic Relations Committee of the Tennessee Judicial Conference," the office said in a statement.

" We have reverted to the previous form and the Committee has been notified." "We have reverted to the previous form and the Committee has been notified," the statement continued.

Blood moon approaching, do you need cash stashed???

Rare blood-moon events already have happened three times in the last year or so, and on Sept. 28, there will be a fourth – the final appearance in what is an even more rare tetrad sequence.

Because of how close it will be to earth, this final blood moon will appear both larger and brighter than usual, giving it a special significance. Such a series of events would be noteworthy at any time, but reports of looming economic turmoil and geopolitical instability are leading some observers to speculate this “super blood moon” heralds a dramatic change in world events.

Maybe economic upheaval.

Satanic statue unveiled

At 1130pm on Saturday July 25th, a crowd of about 700 gathered in an old warehouse a few blocks from the Detroit River for what they’d been told was the “largest public satanic ceremony in history.” Most of them professed to be adherents of Satanism, that loosely organized squad of the occult that defines itself as a religious group.
