Dead Fish In Lebanon

A large number of dead fish have been recently washed ashore at the lake according to reports on Monday May 3rd, 2021. The Lebanese army continues to collect tons of dead fish at Lake Qaraoun in West Bekaa. 

The massive fish deaths are believed to be caused by sewage water discharged by industrial factories into the Litani River, which flows into the artificial Lake Qaraoun. The fish died from internal bleeding.

It was also reported that war-displaced Syrians were eating the fish and selling some into the local markets.
